The Special Education Department at Southside High School consists of four teacher units. Special Education students at Southside High School currently have the following exceptionalities: Mentally Retarded, Learning Disabled (LD), Emotionally Conflicted, and Other Health Impaired (OHI). These teachers work with Alabama Occupational Diploma and Academic Resources.
Teachers incorporate the Life Centered Career Education, Life Skills Curriculum, and American Guidance Service Curriculum into their resource classrooms. Teachers teach all students at SHS in accordance with their respective IEPs (Individual Education Plan).
