School Superintendents of Alabama Scholarships: These scholarships are for seniors intending to pursue a degree in education. The deadline is April 10, 2008. Applications are available in the office.
Cedar Bend Lodge Scholarship: Applicant must live wthin the Rainbow City, Southside area or be a child or grandchild of a Cedar Bend Lodge or Coosa Valley chapter #551 OES member. Applications are availible in the office, turn in completed application before April 15, to Mrs. Love.
Southside Retired Teachers Scholarship: Applications are available in the office, turn in completed applications before April 30, to Mrs. Love. Applicants must submit two teacher recommendations and an essay.
Al Child Memorial Scholarship: Established in memory of Mr. James Alfred Childs. To be eligible students must have a minimal GPA of 2.5, must submit a typed essay explaining their goals after graduating and why he/she should be chosen to receive this scholarship. Applicants should also provide a letter of recommendation. The deadline is April 5, 2008. Glassco $1000 Merit Scholarship: Applications are available in the office. Three letters of recommendation, statement of goals, resume, and transcript are required. Entries for scholarships must be received by April 20, 2008. Delta Kappa Gamma Society/ Alpha Iota Chapter: Applications are in the office. Must be submitted by March 31, 2008. Each applicant must write a letter stating the following: Why you have chosen the field of education for a career, What area of education you have chosen and why, and Why you should be considered.Two letters of recommendation are also required. Kiwanis Club of Gadsden Scholarship: For an application go to: http://www.gadsdenkiwanis.org/scholarship.pdf. Applicants must have: Maintained a 3.0 grade point average for four years of high school, positive leadership, ACT/transcript required, excellent reputation/character, highly motivated to excel, and maturity and ability to handle college work.Deadline is March 31, 2008. ASCE- American Society of Civil Engineers: This scholarship is restricted to students who will attend a civil engineering program at a university or college in Alabama. Application dealine is April 2, 2008. Applications are in the office or online at http://branches.asce.org/birmingham ATRIP- Alabama Teacher Recruitment Incentive Program: ATRIP will provide $20,000 scholarships to 100 Alabama high school seniors each year. For complete information about ATRIP scholarships visit www.atrip.alabama.gov Delta Kappa Gamma: Delta Kappa Gamma, a teaching society, is offering a book scholarship valued at $500 to a senior who intends to major in education. The criteria for awarding the scholarship are academic achievement, service to school and community, and financial need. Applications are available in the office. The deadline for applying is April 5, 2008. A.A.S.O.P Scholarships: The Alabama Association of School Office Personnel will be awarding (7) $1,000 scholarships to any high school graduate who desires to pursue a degree from the college of business or a degree in K-12 education at an accredited Alabama school, college, or university. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic record and financial need. Applications are available in the office. The completed application must be received by March 31, 2008. Nelnet Scholarships: Ten monthly grand prize winners- covering college expenses up to $25,000. 750 first prize winners of $1,000. Jacksonville State University will be offering scholarships to high school seniors that are going to major in education.
