The selection process into NHS involves several steps. First, students must submit an application of membership. The advisor and the Faculty Committee then check the grades of each student who has applied to make sure that they have an 88 accumulative average on academic subjects beginning with their 9th grade year and ending with the last term completed.
Once it has been determined that the student has met the scholastic requirement of Honor Society, the committee then interviews the student's teachers about that student's qualities of service, leadership and character. Each student who is approved by the Faculty Committee then receives an invitation to become part of NHS.
NHS is a service organization. Every year, NHS takes on multiple service projects as a group and as individuals. Every Christmas, they sponsor a needy family.
