The Foreign Language department of Southside High School is made up of two teacher, Mrs. Karen Burks and Mrs. Mandy Hughes, who teach Spanish I and Spanish II
The primary goal of the Foreign Language department is consistent with the objectives of Southside High School in that it strives to meet the various needs of its student body, forces critical thinking skills, and instills respect and appreciation for different cultures and promotes an awareness of our importance in an ever-changing global society.
The Foreign Language department believes that its primary responsibilities to the students are providing an enjoyable and practical introduction to the language, lands and cultures of the target language, and establishing a firm foundation of appreciation and interests upon which students will continue to build beyond high school.
All Spanish students are encouraged to join the Spanish Club.
